Terreflare Inlay Chainmaille Vest

Description

Watchers may have seen this inlay before, but here is a view of it in the vest I made. This has been done for many months now, but I have been too lazy to take a photo and upload it.

The vest took only a month or two to make and is standard english 4-in-1 weave using 16 guage 1/4 inch rings of polished aluminum. (Purchased under bright Al at TheRingLord.com) Yeah, I did not make every ring myself like I used too, and honestly buying them saves tons of time, pain, and they are a way stronger alloy then any wire I have been able to find. These rings are actually much harder to bend then the mild steel wire I made my last shirt from. The sleeves and neck opening are fairly large to make it easy to put on and off and provide full mobility in daily activities. I also made the shoulders much broader so it better distributes the weight and does not dig into the muscles. The weight is around 7 lbs, much lighter then my 20lb steel shirt. I actually wear this almost every time I go out anywhere. It really helps me keep my shoulders up and have better posture, and I can't nottice the weight when I am wearing it. I really love how this metal shines and reflects the lights of the streets at night. I might as well be wearing reflective tape the way this glows.

The camera angle and zoom of the pictures might make me look larger around the waste then I really am if you are thinking I gained a ton of weight since my last chain maille shirt photo. :XD: I actually have probably lost weight, I hardly eat anything some days and always run up the stairs two at a time to get to classes on time. =P You would not believe how long it can take to get between college classes, and with all the construction on campus many sidewalks are dead ends now. :dead: You know, this is completely irrelevant for a description of my vest. :XD:

In case anyone ever wants a commision, I can design custom inlays on my computer, create the inlays, and probably even create full shirts like this one for the right price. (absolutely not for DA points!) For pricing it would depend on material costs and complexity of the job. Just the inlay for this shirt probably costed near $50 in colored rings, and the rest of the rings in the shirt were probably around $50 or more as well, so this is not a cheap craft project. Also you must concider time, I have no idea how to price something like this, a couple months of work must be worth something, but I have never seen chainmaille sold anywhere. Anyway, if anyone is seriously interested just start up a private note and we could talk about it. I have no commisions or chainmaille projects at the moment, so it would be a good time to ask. :)
